Little Britain Community Foundation
History
The Little Britain Community was founded by settlers who originated from the Westphalia and Black Forest areas of Germany in the late 1920s. Through tremendous courage and commitment, these individuals were able to make their new country, their new home. Despite hardship they persevered and in review, were successful in creating a community that has grown into what it is today: vibrant, supportive and engaged. Many people throughout the years have devoted their time and resources to support the community and its culture, whether having generational family ties, being a new member or having other interests in the area and its people. The community has in turn supported and nurtured its fellow members to become the best they can be: successful business people, home makers, professionals, farmers - all contributors to the well-being of our community.
One of those who left us well before his time was Kurt Ostermann, an individual who lived as a man for others. He truly made a positive impact on this community. An inspiration to his family, friends and community, a trust Account was started in Kurt’s memory by his father Al. Five years of further effort and determination have resulted in the creation of the LITTLE BRITAIN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION from this initial trust Account.
Vision and Mission
The foundation has been created to support community development and growth, while preserving Little Britain’s heritage. This will be accomplished through the provision of financial assistance to all of its citizens, both young and old, and the continuing support of community infrastructure and initiatives. The Foundation is committed to Building Community Through People.
Building on our forefathers’ aspirations, Kurt’s ambition and our commitment, we would like you to envision making a lasting impact in the community. Empower the foundation with the means to support and benefit the children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends within our community. They can be positively influenced by your generosity. Consider what you can do today and in the future to support this very worthy cause.
